It is with great enthusiasm that I write this recommendation letter for the Desmond Family. My name is Iris, a third-year student at the Hanze University of Groningen. From September 2020 until June 2021, I participated in a student exchange program in Cork. During this program, I had the privilege of staying with the Desmond family and an exchange student from Germany. From the moment I arrived, 'the host' made me feel welcome and part of her family, She was kind, welcoming and supportive, which made it much easier for me to adjust to living in a new environment. Her home was a place where I felt safe and comfortable. One of the things I appreciated most about the 'host' was how much she cared about everyone in her home. She made sure everyone had everything they needed, helped with any problems that came up and always took time to listen. Besides this, she made an effort to involve me in family activities and shared their culture. This made me feel very welcome and valued, and like a true part of her family. The 'host' also regularly engaged with the community of Passage West, always showing generosity and kindness to others, which I really admired. My time with 'the host' and her family was not only fun, but also an impactful experience for me. She created a safe and supportive home where I could grow personally and culturally. Her dedication, positive attitude and genuine care for others, make her an amazing host. I highly recommend the Desmond family without any hesitation.
